City Council Approves New Grants For Toronto Commercial Property Improvements
Street front businesses receive support from pandemic recovery plan.

Toronto’s street-front businesses are receiving support from the city’s pandemic recovery efforts after being granted two new grants for commercial property improvements. The programs will provide relief funds for interior and exterior renovations, retrofits and exterior sit upgrades.
Owners or business tenants of street-level commercial premises can partake in the new Commercial Rehabilitation Grant Program and the Commercial and Industrial Property Improvement Grant Program. The new Commercial Rehabilitation Grant Program will provide up to $20,000 to cover 50 percent of the cost of a range of renovation/retrofit measures. They will also cover up to 50 percent of the cost of site improvements, patio installations or outdoor fixtures to a maximum of $5,000.
But that’s not all. The City council has decided to lift the previous locational restrictions, allowing all street-front businesses to partake in these programs. The programs will be open for applications annually, considering on a first-come-first-served basis according to the submission date. All grant recipients will be required to have formal approval from the city before any improvements are made.
